Start of our Summer League with seven teams of four to compete over the next seven weeks in games of pairs.
Week one winner new kid on the block Noel ‘Reilly assisted by Bernie O’Driscoll in a pars scramble putting in a Net score of 39 to take the Top spot from David Weldon and partner Noel Dunne on a back 6 count, very close game and probably decided by an ACE by Noel O’Reilly on the 65m 2nd hole. Well done all who competed.

Wednesday scramble produced some of the bests scores of the year to date. With two teams tied on G62 thats -19 over 27 holes helped along by two aces on the day.

Absolute perfect conditions for golf with no wind warm morning no sun in our eyes and beautiful greens to shoot for.
Some fantastic scoring today which showed in the Top ten for championship point in at Net 48.

With the weather taking a slight tun for the more seasonal autumnic slightly cooler with a nice soft westerly wind it was a great morning for pitch & Putt.

Starting on Sunday 30th Aug is our Summer League, this is a team event of four players per team who with compete weekly on Sunday mornings at 11am over six weeks. The teams will compete in pairs against each other for points so each team can win 2 points per week and will for a league table. Team with most points after the six weeks will be crowned the winners. Players need to confirm they wish to be included in the draw which will be made after the scramble game on Wednesday 26th August.
Sunday 9th August
With the fantastic weather staying with us for the moment we are enjoying our Pitch & Putt immencly at the moment.
Congratulations to Fran Murray with back to back singles wins with a Net 44[ob9] from Petere Moore. No Golden birdie ball winner this week.
Wednesday scramble over 27holes was won by Dermot Rogers, Grace Griffen and Eileen Dalton G71 a great score on hard ground with a very strong wind.
Away evening next Friday to Rathfeigh is a 3ball scramble kick off at 6pm with social evening and presentations in Donnellys Cloughertown after the game. See Notice board.

Another beautiful weekend in the north county Dublin and perfect conditions for playing a round of Pitch & Putt
A first win at the Club for Fran Murray with a fantastic score of Net 43[ob9]from Bob Ryan two amazing rounds of P&P. The Golden birdie was on 14th hole so congratulations to Fran Murray & Willie Rogers.

Another great week of sunshine all over the country and conditions were just beautiful for our weekly game great sunshine and a brisk Easterly wind blowing in the gate.

No scramble this week as we closed the course as a mark of respect to our late member Pauline O’Mahony RIP deepest sympathies to Paulines family from all the members and friends at the club.
Next Friday 17th July we have the Ladies Pearl Grogan Cup a 3ball scramble at 11am and in the evening the gents Bartle Maxwell shield at 7pm. Presentations to follow in the Village Inn from 9pm.

Perfect conditions for playing golf great dry weekend and stiff warm westerly wind making some of the long holes trickier than usual.
A very popular winner this week was Peter Moore with a great Net 45 on the morning outstripping his nearest rivals Three players on Net 50 with Gerry Smyth taking the prize [ob9]

Wednesday scramble 27holes produved one of the best cards seen in a few years Willie Rogers, Gerry Smyth and Eileen Dalton G63, that’s 18 birdies for 27holes.
Coming up on the 17th July next Friday week is the Ladies Pearl Grogan Cup 3ball scramble Tee at 11am. Later that evening is the Gents Bartle Maxwell Shield Tee 7pm. All presentations will be in the Village Inn that evening from 9pm.

Summer has finally arrived with this fantastic sunny warm day and weekend and this the longest day of the year we could take days like this all year round.
Happy fathers day to all the Dads in the club but the Weekly singles game belonged to the Ladies with Breda Finnegan putting in a fantastic Net 44 to take the weekly prize and Josie Cahill securing the 2nd spot with a Net 46.
Congratulations to Gerry Smyth with his first ever hole in one on 3rd the Golden birdie was on the 6th and it went to Willie Rogers.

A reall nice week looks like summer is trying to arrive giving us a great Sunday morning for a game with nice sunshine and no wind. Some very close scores with results decided on a back count.
We played a 3 ball scramble over 27holes witch produced two teams tied on G65 -16 ove the 27 holes, great scoring.

Another great Sunday morning with the forecasted rain staying away until evening it was perfect conditions for hitting a golf ball around the course with a slight stiff breeze.
We played a pairs scramble winners with a fantastic score of Net 44 were Martin Cullen & Paddy McDentt, R/up on the day Noel Dunne & Frank Hughes Net 47.

A thrilling finish to the Peggy & Charlie Memorial Shields with the Leaderboard for the gents shifting considerably and the winner getting there by a back count.

With the country in the brink of a heat wave it was such a beautiful warm sunny weekend perfect golfing conditions which did produce some very good scoring and two hole in ones.
The Peggy and Charlie Moore shilelds kicked off the first round on Friday night with very close scoring on the evening results after first round.

A bitter bright morning with two showers of hailstones msde for an interesting game of golf this weekend. With attendance numbers lineing up for a game of pairs scramble.
Winners with a really great round of G46 Net 38 were Willie Rogers & Sue Clarke, Congratulations to Sue with this her first win at the club. R/up was Ronnie Delaney & David Weldon just one stroke back with G47 Net 39.

This is the May Bank holiday weekend and the weather has come good for a change with perfect golfing conditions no wind bright sunshine. Winter Placing is now finished on the course which will make some difference to the scorelines.

A really nice morning dry and sunny but with a very stiff wind it would be a challenge to keep bogys of the card.

A remarkable Sunday at the club beautiful sunny morning with almost no wind ideal conditions for golf and the results certainly reflected that.

Can you believe it we didn’t get to play for two weeks due to the inclement weather of persistant rain and storms however all was good on this morning as we got off to a great day with no wind and bright sunshine for the game.
Sunday game winner Dermot Rogers Net 47[ob9] from his Brother Willie Rogers. Golden birdie ball winner scored on the 5th index 1 was Mick Comerford.
Wednesday scramble winners Willie Rogers, Josie Cahill and Brian Delaney G62 on the day some great play with rounds of 23,20 and 19. Congratulations to Brian Delaney with a Hole in one on the 8th this is the 3rd of the year.
Our first Club Major of 2026 is the O’Connor Cup which will be played on Sunday 15th March.

Sunday 8th February
We were very lucky to get a game in this week after the country was a wash of flooding after a weeks rain. Thecouse inspection on Sunday morning allowed for a game to be played.
Second singles win for Fran Murray Net 41 a great round on greens that were challenging R/up on the morning another man hitting good form at the minute Willie Rogers Net 45, greats scores on the morning as the next two players were tied on Net 46 Bob Ryan and David Weldon.

The Wednesday Scramble continues at 10.30 weather permitting.

No Sunday game this week as the whole country was a wash with flooding after two weeks of very persistant rain.
Happy St Bridgets day to all our members and enjoy the bank holiday Monday break its great to see the evenings now stretching a bit as spring clicks in.
The course will remain closed until at least next weekend 8th Feb in order to allow the ground to recover.
Deepest sympathies to the Brown family following passing of their dear wife, mother and grandmother Sue RIP.
Sue was a very active member of our club over the years and a great compeditor winning her fair share of competitions.

Hard to believe we are at the the end of January already ane we have been very lucky to have got the weekly game in every Sunday. This weekend saw some horrendous weather with torrential rain falling on the sat evening and night making the course very soft on the Sunday morning.
Sunday game winner with his first singles win is Fran Murray net 42, Runner up after a three way split on net 45 was Mick Comerford on the back nine.
Congratulations to Fran on his first win of 2026 I’m sure there will be more to follow.
Deepest sympathies to the Fagan family on the passing of our dear patron Cannon Fr. Patrick Fagan in his 98 year may he RIP.

First week back after the Christmas break and a really good non windy morning to start back at the games we were so lucky with the weather.
The first game of the year a pairs scramble produced some really good scores with one stroke separating the nine teams.

Its never over ‘till it’s over and our final game of the year on really good Wednesday we played a game of singles for the last Turkey of the year.
Winner David Weldon put in a great round of Net 47 to take home the Christmas Dinner.
Very happy and peaceful Christmas now to all our members and we also wish you a peaceful Healthy new year for 2026

Sunday 14th December
The final hurragh in the Christmas Turkeys and we were so lucky with the weather staying dry for us as the rest of the country was a washout, thank you St Patrick for looking after us all in Ballyboughal.
We got an extra game of Turkeys in on the Wed with three pairs level on Net 41 the winners got it on a back six cont, Noel Dunne & David Weldon.
Our last game on Sunday was divided with one turkey to play for between winners and Two turkey between those that hadn’t won one to date. Winners Willie Rogers G48, Steven Rowe net 48[ob9] & Gerry Smyth[ob9] very close games.
Thank you all for participating over this past year it was a very good year and we look forward to a new 2026 and some new champions in the club.

Week four of our Turkey games and it was a bight but chilly morning with sun shining making it very pleasant for playing. Conditions for golf were challenging as there was hower of a wind fron the SW Oldtown direction which was playing havoc with the tee shots.
Pairs scramble this week with the draw and handicaps avaraged with no pair getting more than 8 strokes.

Week two of our Turkey Competition with a great turnout on a summers day unbelievable after the overnight inclement heavy rain but Temps were up to 19’,C amazing for November.

Bank holiday weekend at the club and that menthe GeorgerMcDonnell Memorial Cup our final club Major for 2025.
The competition was planned to be played over 54 holes starting on Sat, Sun with the final round on Monday.
Saturdays game in difficult windy but nice and dry conditions produced an early Leader Fran FitzPatrick on -11, a great round followed closly by Robbie Moore on -8, the next group of eight players were all just one stroke off the leaders.
With a poor start to Sunday the second round was rained off so it was decided to play the final round ove 27holes on the Monday. A really good morning for golf and the 27holes produced some very strong challenges to the leaderboard . Best card of the day was Nick Savage with an amazing -16 but wasn’t good enough to take the prize. With a fantastic round of -15 Kieran Warren took the prize with an overall win score of -19 on back count from Robbie Moore and Fran Fitzpatrick in 3rd on -18.
Nearest the Pin on the day Kieran Warren having almost holed in one hitting the pin and stopping inside 6 inches.

Player of the year points were confirmed following the results and
Nick Savage is Player of the Year for 2025, this is Nick’s second year in a row to take the honour by 2points from nearest rival Noel Dunne.

No Sunday game due to the very heavy overnight rain which continued all through the morning.

The Scramble game is on Wednesdays at 10.30am.
Next weekend is the final Club Marjor of 2025 The George McDonnell Memorial Cup, and will be contested over 54hholes three rounds , the first round is on Saturday 25th, 2nd Round Sun 26th and final Round on the Bank Holiday Monday 26th all games are mornings at 11am. The winner will be the best Cumulative Net score after the 3 rounds.

The final round in our Summer league amazingly on a beautiful morning no wing and some players even playing in shorts. Some last minute shifts on the league table but Team F, Ronnie Delaney, Martin Cullen, Catherine Hainsworth & Frank Hughes held onto their lead to this years honour.
